Different storage modes need to be equipped with different electric forklifts, and the matching modes are different in FIFO or FILO, space utilization, operation efficiency, and investment cost. As a large distribution center, positioning is mainly for goods in and out services, how to configure forklift, to achieve the purpose and function is very important.
1. Forklift tonnage configuration. They are 1.5T, 1.8T, 2T, 2.5t, 3T; the selection of purchasing configuration depends on the weight of the goods and the highest fork height. Because with the increase of the height, the maximum safe weight of forklift gradually decreases. For example, a 5-meter-high 2T battery forklift can fork up to 2T when working at a low position, but when forking to a height close to 5m, its safety weight may be only 800kg, or at most 1000kg. Exceeding this weight may cause danger due to overload. This is still important.
2. Forklift drive. There are mainly battery forklifts and diesel forklifts. As indoor and outdoor operations are involved, two configuration ratios need to be considered. Comparatively speaking, battery forklift is much less powerful than diesel forklift. But the battery forklift has the advantages of environmental protection, less noise, small turning radius, and low operation cost. Diesel forklift has the advantages of large power, high speed, and high efficiency.
3. Lifting height of forklift. Considering the need of warehouse elevated operation, combined with the warehouse height, the lifting height of forklift from the standard configuration of 3.5 m, 4.5 m, 5.5 m, 6 m should be properly considered; generally, several combinations will be considered separately according to the low-level operation and high-level operation, so as to reduce the total procurement cost.
4. The height of the forklift. Considering that the forklift needs to enter into the container for operation, the height of the forklift gantry is also considered. It is required that the net height in the container is less than 2.3m, and at least two portal frames are required. However, the lifting height of the forklift will conflict with the height of the gantry, and the lifting height is too high. Whether it is a three-section gantry or a two-section gantry, the gantry height is 2.4m;
5. Considering the accuracy and flexibility of forklift operation, it is necessary to configure side shifter;
6. The number of forklift tires. Considering the width of the forklift operation channel, we should consider whether to choose three or four wheels when we can’t purchase a high-cost forward-moving forklift. The turning radius of three wheels is much smaller;
7. Flexible configuration of the forklift for subsequent use. Considering that the following warehouse may have cylindrical, large cotton bags and other goods that need to be operated, that is to add holding appliances and other accessories, but also consider whether to reserve hydraulic pipeline when the forklift leaves the factory;
8. Tire of the forklift. The problem of pneumatic and solid tires should be considered. Generally, the standard configuration of the forklift is a pneumatic tire, but it is easy to burst, and it is not resistant to wear, which increases the maintenance cost. Therefore, under the premise of budget permission, forklift with solid tire can be considered;
9. For the engine of diesel forklift, it is necessary to consider whether it is an imported engine or a domestic engine, which is the core part of forklift performance. Moreover, there are many brands to choose from, which needs to be carefully compared and analyzed;
10. Follow up maintenance costs. Battery forklift should also consider whether to choose DC motor or AC motor and what kind of full AC and partial AC should be distinguished in AC because this involves a follow-up maintenance cost;
11. The battery forklift should also consider whether the battery is imported or domestic, whether it is the maintenance-free or traditional lead-acid battery;
12. The brand of forklift, after-sales service, cost performance and so on should be considered;
13. What’s more, each supplier will emphasize some safety protection details of their own products, some technological innovation, and design, etc., but as long as the above items are basically determined, these are considered according to the purchase cost.
