What is boltless rivet shelving?
Boltless shelving, also known as riveted shelving, is an efficient and economical storage solution in many applications.
Designed for storing small to medium sized loads with manual access, this steel shelving can find some applications for this very versatile storage product in warehouses and distribution centers (often in combination with pallet racking), pharmacies, supply rooms, archival records storage spaces, and even residential garages.
Boltless shelving is sturdier than you might think and is available in a variety of capacities, usually ranging from 200 lbs. to 2000 lbs. This type of shelving can even be used in multi-level mezzanines and walkway systems.
Two boltless rivet shelving types
Boltless shelving comes in two basic types: single rivet (sometimes referred to as low profile) and double rivet (sometimes referred to as long span).
Single rivet boltless shelving is high-density shelving that utilizes single rivet beams at the middle level, but double rivet beams at the top and bottom for increased flexibility. Single rivet units are available in widths up to 48 inches, and they typically offer less capacity but are easier to use than double rivet units (due to the thinner beams).
Double riveted boltless shelving units are designed for spans from 48″ to 96″ wide. They are high-capacity units with many options available to enhance their storage capacity and flexibility.
How to assemble the boltless rivet shelving unit?
Boltless shelves are assembled by sliding the riveted ends of the horizontal beams into keyhole-shaped slots in the vertical posts to create interlocking units in virtually any configuration. No loose fasteners are required, and essentially no complicated tools are needed – you may only need a rubber mallet! Tool-free assembly also means you can easily adjust individual shelf heights by simply moving the crossbar up or down to the next slot.
